The road between Çanakkale and İzmir is one of the busiest routes in the North Aegean, and for many travellers it is part of a classic Turkish road trip, from Gallipoli and Troy down towards Pergamon and Ephesus. On a long drive like this, a good stop is a chance both to rest and to taste the region. Our hotel and restaurant sit right on this road in Ezine, and in this guide we explain how to find us, what to expect from a Turkish village breakfast and how to make the most of your break.
Why Take a Break on a Long Drive?
Road safety experts recommend taking regular breaks on long journeys. The UK Highway Code, for example, recommends a break of at least 15 minutes after every two hours of driving. A short walk, a hot glass of tea or a good breakfast helps you stay alert and continue refreshed.
Whether you have crossed the Dardanelles by ferry from the Gallipoli peninsula or over the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, Ezine is a natural place to stop on the southern stretch of the road out of Çanakkale.
How to Find Us on the Road
We are located on the Çanakkale–İzmir highway (D550) in Bozeli village, Ezine. Our hotel, restaurant and farm shop share the same grounds.
- From Çanakkale: Head south towards İzmir on the D550 for about 45 km (28 miles). Our signposted entrance is right beside the road.
- From İzmir or Ayvalık: Heading north towards Çanakkale, you will reach us about 12 km (7.5 miles) after passing Ezine.
- From Bozcaada or Geyikli: From Yükyeri Pier, join the main road towards Ezine and drive for about 15 km (9 miles).

What Is a Turkish Village Breakfast?
In Turkey, breakfast (kahvaltı) is often the most generous meal of the day. A serpme kahvaltı, or breakfast spread, brings dozens of small plates to the table at once, so everyone can share and try a little of everything. A village breakfast (köy kahvaltısı) puts the emphasis on simple, local produce.
At the centre of our table is the cheese our family has been making since 1953. The cheese, butter and dairy products come from our own facility. The spread may vary with the season, but you can expect:
- Our own production: Ezine cheese, kaşar (a mild, semi-hard yellow cheese) and our other dairy products, plus village butter
- Regional flavours: Honey with kaymak (Turkish clotted cream), regional olives and olive oil, homemade jams
- From the kitchen: Tomatoes, cucumber and seasonal greens, village eggs, menemen (eggs scrambled with tomatoes and peppers) and omelette options, warm bread and börek (flaky savoury pastry)
- Drinks: Freshly squeezed orange juice and unlimited Turkish tea
Breakfast is served from 08:00, when the restaurant opens. Find out more on our Breakfast in Ezine page. If you are curious about the cheese on your plate, read What Is Ezine Cheese and How Is It Made?
Lunch or Dinner on the Road
If your journey does not fall at breakfast time, you can still stop with us. Our restaurant is open seven days a week from 08:00 to 23:00, serving the traditional dishes of Çanakkale and the North Aegean. Much of the cheese and dairy in our kitchen is made by us.
Local Food to Take Home
In the gourmet farm shop next to the restaurant, you can buy our Ezine cheese, kaşar, butter, honey, olive oil and other local products. If you enjoyed something at breakfast, you can take it with you for the rest of your journey.

Turn Your Stop Into a Short Detour
If you are not in a hurry, you can combine your break with nearby sights. The ancient city of Troy and the Troy Museum, about 20 km (12 miles) from us, can be visited in half a day on the way. If you are heading to Bozcaada, we are also a convenient place for breakfast before the ferry; see How to Get to Bozcaada for details.
With a little more time, you can also visit Alexandria Troas, about 25 km (16 miles) from us, or, if you are driving south, take a detour to Assos and its Temple of Athena overlooking the Aegean.
Break Your Journey Overnight
If you would rather not do the whole drive in one go, our hotel in Ezine makes an easy overnight stop right on the road. Our reception is open 24 hours, and a village breakfast is included for hotel guests the next morning.
